Sweeping in the Line

This is a perfect indoor/outdoor activity that helps your little one develop life skills and problem-solving skills!

Ages: 2Y+

Development Focus:

Life skills, problem-solving, hand-eye coordination & fine motor skills

Life skills provide children with important skills such as sufficiency and independent thinking. We highly recommend that you incorporate life skills activity into play time.

Now, onto our Sweeping in the Line activity:

Ensure that you have a broom and dustpan on hand. We recommend that you obtain a broom and dustpan set suitable for children so that they are able to hold the items comfortably.  A smaller whisk broom is a good option.

Using masking tape, make a line or a shape on the floor.

Pour "trash" all over the floor and encourage your child to sweep the trash into the shape or over the line.

TIPS:

1. Prepare the "trash" in advance. This can be leaves, random pieces of paper or even sensory fillers such as seeds.

2. Encourage your child to use both hands to hold the broom.

3. Prepare your space in advance so that there is no anxiety about breaking something indoors. This way you can focus on having FUN!
